» Taken In LA » revolves around Angie ( Jane Widdop ). The cheerful, musically talented teen meets a boy ( Dylan Sprayberry ) who claims his uncle ( Marty Dew ) is a pop executive and can make her big. But that’s just a trick. In reality, the guy runs a sex slave ring.
Before the unsuspecting Angie knows what is happening to her, she is kidnapped, imprisoned along with a number of other victims, and offered online to anyone willing to pay the sums demanded. Angie’s parents ( Randall Batinkoff , Olivia d’Abo ) are so worried about their daughter that she manages to escape with the help of a fellow sufferer ( Lindsey Da Sylveira ).
Back with her family, she is desperately trying to find her way back to a reasonably normal life. But Angie should help the police — more precisely Detective Chase ( Anthony Montgomery ) — to put a stop to the culprits. So she has to face her fears and the horrific memories to save the other young women…
Hard action à la «John Wick» with «Sons Of Anarchy» stars: The trailer for «There Are No Saints»
As already mentioned, «Taken In LA» is not a sequel or a spin-off of the brutal » Taken » trilogy with Liam Neeson. In view of the comparable girl trafficker theme, the German title was certainly chosen deliberately in order to evoke associations with the popular action series. In the original, the film, which focuses less on action and more as a thriller drama, therefore listens to the completely different title «Angie: Lost Girls».
Taken In LA will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in Germany on May 27, 2022 with FSK 16 rating. Both formats can already be pre-ordered from online providers such as Amazon. If you don’t want to wait that long, you can buy the film digitally now and then stream it immediately:
