The focus of “ The Menu ” is an extravagant culinary event on a remote island where the rich and famous of the world fight over it. The young couple Tyler ( Nicholas Hoult ) and Margot ( Anya Taylor-Joy ) were also able to get one of the coveted spots. Chef Slowik ( Ralph Fiennes ) prepares an exclusive contemporary menu, but Margot is far less impressed than Tyler and the other diners.
She marvels at the almost dictatorial rules for guests and the odd behavior of the kitchen staff — and as she soon discovers, her suspicions are not entirely misplaced, as Slowik has some shocking surprises in store for his guests. ..
Exactly what that surprise is isn’t exactly clear from the trailer above, but it does look like the wealthy people are getting their hands on the food — or at least being held against their will. And when the descriptions of «The Menu» constantly talk about surprises and unexpected ingredients, it somehow sounds suspiciously like cannibalism…
To all appearances, a socially critical, satirical horror film awaits us here, which should take a similar line to the Netflix hit » Der Schacht » and comparable titles. We will soon find out what exactly is on the menu in «The Menu»: The German cinema release date is November 17, 2022.
