Lucia Faraig / Netflix
Spanish original productions are always popular on Netflix . After global hits such as » House of Money » and » Elite «, this is now also the case with the recently launched mystery series » Welcome to Eden «, which has been the top 10 of the most watched series currently on Netflix.
And many who have already watched the eight-part first season to the end are now naturally wondering whether the story about a group of influencers* who come across a mysterious parallel society on a mysterious island will continue. Especially because the first season finale brings up several big cliffhangers (which should not be revealed at this point).
In fact, the Spanish gossip site Semana.es announced two months before the start of the series that «Welcome to Eden» will have a second season. Things aren’t really that clear at the moment…
No official confirmation from Netflix yet
Even if Semana does not name exact sources in the corresponding article, we do not want to rule out that preparations for potential further seasons of «Welcome to Eden» are already underway in the background. As the end of season 1 showed, the plot is also clearly designed for several seasons. Nevertheless: The official confirmation of a second «Welcome to Eden» season by Netflix and the makers is still pending.
So fans of the mystery series cannot breathe a sigh of relief, especially since Netflix recently pulled the plug on some series that also did quite well in the daily Netflix top lists, despite very open season endings (recently, e.g. on » Archives 81 ” and “ Raising Dion ”).
The current top position of «Welcome to Eden» on some Netflix platforms in the world and the mentioned Semana report are at least important indications that a second «Welcome to Eden» season has very good chances. However, it will be even more meaningful for the future of the series when Netflix announces in the coming days how many hours the Spanish production was watched worldwide after its launch and how that compares to other originals from the provider. This is exactly what the success of a title is now measured on the streaming service.
