After colliding with an unknown object, the American nuclear submarine USS Montana sinks to the seabed. The army is then forced to send a team of four specially trained Navy Seals on a rescue mission. Time is of the essence as enemy submarines are en route to the scene of the accident.
Led by Lieutenant Hiram Coffey ( Michael Biehn ), the team, along with engineer Lindsey Brigman ( Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio ), embark on an undersea drilling platform that will serve as the base for the mission. However, this does not only lead to conflicts with Brigman’s ex-husband ( Ed Harris ), who runs the platform. A hurricane is also brewing as the unknown object reappears…
