Before I bring you the brilliance of Taxi Driver, here’s the synopsis:
Travis Bickle ( Robert De Niro ) returns traumatized from the Vietnam War. In New York he hires himself out as a taxi driver and is free of dreams, desires and ambitions. In his free time, he visits porn cinemas, scaring his only acquaintance Betsy ( Cybill Shepherd ) for a long time.
The experiences of the war just can’t let go of Travis and he is increasingly delusional that he has to clean New York’s streets of human scum. When he fails to convert an underage prostitute ( Jodie Foster ), the distraught man equips himself with several pistols and plans a bloody killing spree…
