«A Risky Plan» begins with the main character, played by Sam Worthington, checking into a hotel, eating a feast — and then climbing onto the window sill of the hotel room on the 21st floor. The police and passers-by quickly become aware of the alleged suicide risk, but he only wants to speak to the police negotiator Lydia Mercer ( Elizabeth Banks ), who is on leave.
Mercer soon discovers that the man on the windowsill is ex-cop Nick Cassidy, who has been sentenced to 25 years in prison and recently escaped from prison.
