The Asylum
Are you just amazed because you haven’t heard of » Triassic Hunt » yet? That’s not really surprising, because the film was produced by the notorious trash company The Asylum. In addition to their over-the-top » Sharknado » series, the indie production company is best known for a somewhat dubious business practice:
Whenever one of the big Hollywood studios launches a long-awaited blockbuster, the Californians simultaneously release one of their similarly titled low-budget home cinema hits to get a few crumbs of the big box office cake.
However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with the works from The Asylum. In the meantime there are even numerous fans of such cheap productions. They regularly have fun-filled evenings in front of the telly – usually equipped with a few bottles of beer and snacks – and delight in the outrageous stories, the often terribly lousy special effects and even worse acting performances.

If you want to know how the studio has managed to achieve real cult status in such circles, there is hardly a more suitable title in its repertoire than this one: «Triassic Hunt» celebrates its German free TV premiere tonight at 10 p.m on Tele 5. Alternatively, the film is available from June 7th to July 7th in the Tele5 media library.
There are certainly far less amusing ways to while away the wait for its glossy counterpart Jurassic World 3: A New Age to hit theaters. If you don’t want to be interrupted by commercials, you can also watch «Triassic Hunt» at any time with an Amazon Prime Video subscription at no extra charge. The FSK 16 film is also available there on Blu-ray DVD or as video-on-demand:

This is the story of «Triassic Hunt»
In the middle of a heavily trafficked industrial area outside of Los Angeles, two bloodthirsty allosaurs break out of their cages during a high-security transport by truck. The accompanying security staff is brutally mauled and killed by the creatures, which have been bred into dangerous fighting machines through gene manipulation.
A group of heavily armed mercenaries (including Sienna Farall , Todd Karner and William Jeon) is hired to eliminate the aggressive prehistoric creatures. What the fighters don’t know, however, is that not only are these dinosaurs virtually invulnerable, they don’t actually happen to be in the wild either. Her breakout was orchestrated by money-hungry Jordan Freedman ( Michael Paré ), owner of the lab she created to showcase her qualities to potential buyers…

The title and the trailer already make it clear: «Triassic Hunt» should actually appear in the wake of «Jurassic World 3». Here, however, The Asylum apparently had a lot of confidence in the potential of the film directed by «Open Water: Cage Dive» director Gerald Rascionato . Because although the model was postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a US release was already dared to be released at the beginning of 2021, without the additional promotion from the glossy competition.
Maybe it was also because the 80s star Michael Paré (» Eddie And The Cruisers «, » Streets on Fire «) was at least one popular name on the cast list. In any case, “Triassic Hunt” appeared in Germany almost exactly a year ago and can now be seen on free TV for the first time. C-movie lovers should enjoy themselves.
