Based on the manhwa of the same name by South Korean Min-Woo Hyung , director Scott Stewart shows in “Priest” a futuristic world plagued by endless wars, in which the victorious humans live in a dictatorial papal state, while the vanquished vampires lead a miserable existence in the desert.
The victory over the bloodsuckers was possible thanks to a caste of powerful priests and priestesses, including the nameless holy warrior played by Paul Bettany. When he learns one day that his niece Lucy ( Lily Collins ) has been kidnapped by vampires, he leaves town against the will of church leader Orelas ( Christopher Plummer ) to save Lucy.
So he soon not only has to deal with the bloodsuckers under the command of senior vampire Black Hat ( Karl Urban ), but also with his former comrades-in-arms under the leadership of a friend who is a warrior ( Maggie Q )…
