The fact that those responsible behind » The Walking Dead » have already announced several spin-offs with popular main characters did not meet with undivided approval. After all, the planned spin-offs essentially spoil the fact that the intended protagonists (originally Daryl, Carol, Maggie, and Negan in this case) will survive the upcoming Walking Dead finale.
Nevertheless, some fans may have been looking forward to not having to do without the well-rehearsed duo Daryl ( Norman Reedus ) and Carol ( Melissa McBride ) even after the end of the zombie hit with the upcoming third part of season 11, as they should be together in the center of one of the new spin-offs. But surprisingly nothing comes of it:
Carol actress Melissa McBride is no longer a part of the planned Walking Dead spin-off , website TVLine has exclusively learned . As the trade journal Variety was able to find out, this decision is said to be primarily for logistical reasons, as the series will be filmed in Europe, but McBride is unable to relocate there for a longer period of time at this time. However, it cannot be ruled out that one day we will see Carol again in the zombie universe.
Now just a Daryl spin-off
Incidentally, despite the sudden exit, the spin-off in question has not been cancelled. However, the concept that «Walking Dead» boss Scott M. Gimple and current «Walking Dead» showrunner Angela Kang are taking care of is now being completely revised: Instead of a Daryl Carol spin-off, we’re now getting one Spin-off that will focus entirely on Daryl. So Norman Reedus is still on board.
The adjustments that are now necessary should not change the fact that the still untitled series will be shot in summer 2022 and then celebrate its premiere in 2023. Before that, however, we definitely have the anthology spin-off “ Tales Of The Walking Dead ” and probably the last eight episodes of the eleventh “Walking Dead” season from autumn 2022 .
