Studio Lionsgate has released the first teaser trailer for A Song of Birds and Snakes , the prequel to the hit The Hunger Games movies starring Jennifer Lawrence , at the 2022 MTV Movie Awards . However, it does not contain any scenes from the prequel.
Instead, the nearly minute-and-a-half-long video is just a reveal of the logo, which—unsurprisingly given the film’s title—features a bird and a snake. There was a similar teaser trailer recently for Amazon’s «The Lord of the Rings» series .

The Hunger Games: A Song of Birds and Serpents is set 64 years before the events of the first The Hunger Games film. However, the focus is still on a well-known character: Coriolanus Snow (played by Donald Sutherland in the previous films) is only 18 years old here (and played by Tom Blyth as a young man ).
At the tenth Hunger Games, young Snow becomes the mentor of the impoverished District 12’s female tribute, who impressed with her singing skills at the selection ceremony. The young woman goes by the name of Lucy Gray Bird ( Rachel Zegler ) and a love story develops between her and Snow. However, because Snow is striving for power and Lucy soon has to fight for her survival, this relationship is in danger…
» The Hunger Games: A Song of the Birds and the Serpent » will be released in US theaters on November 17, 2023. A German start date has not yet been announced , but the suspicion is obvious that the «The Hunger Games» prequel will start in this country in the near future. A likely launch date is November 16, 2023.
A Song of Birds and Snakes is directed by Francis Lawrence («I Am Legend»), who directed Parts 2, 3 and 4 of the Hunger Games films. Screenwriter Michael Arndt and producer Nina Jacobson also have experience working on previous films.
