Netflix is currently organizing the so-called Geeked Week, during which the streaming service presents new projects from the genres of action, animation, fantasy, horror and science fiction and publishes new trailers and teasers. A particularly exciting series: » Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet Of Curiosities «, for which the «Pan’s Labyrinth» and «Hellboy» maker has drummed up eight top-class directors and filmmakers.
Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet Of Curiosities is an anthology series, so each episode will tell a self-contained story and is not connected to one another. The template for the eight episodes includes two short stories by Guillermo del Toro himself, but also the works of HP Lovecraft and other authors.
Great directors and a great cast
The episodes are directed by Panos Cosmatos (“Mandy”), David Prior (“The Empty Man”), Vincenzo Natali (“Splice”), Jennifer Kent (“The Babadook”), Keith Thomas (“The Vigil”), Catherine Hardwicke («Twilight»), Ana Lily Amirpour («A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night») and Guillermo Navarro («Hannibal»).
The cast of «Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet Of Curiosities» is also impressive. In the trailer, Netflix announced Andrew Lincoln , Ben Barnes , Charlene Yi , Crispin Glover , Eric Andre , Essie Davis , Ismael Cruz Cordova , Kate Micucci , Rupert Grint , and Sofia Boutella , but that’s certainly not all of the actors starring in the series will be seen.
«The Walking Dead» star Andrew Lincoln and «Harry Potter» star Rubert Grint are certainly the most prominent names in the cast, but also Ben Barnes («The Chronicles of Narnia», «Shadow And Bone») and Sofia Boutella (» The Mummy», «Kingsman») should be familiar to a larger audience.
A start date for » Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet Of Curiosities » on Netflix has not yet been set , but in the trailer the streaming service announces the start for 2022. It is quite possible that the release will be saved for the horror month of October…
