The first seven episodes of the expansive fourth season of » Stranger Things » have given the Netflix hit a brilliant comeback and end with a real bang: In a dramatic treatment of Eleven’s ( Millie Bobby Brown ) repressed memories, it is not only revealed that it is the season’s big villain Vecna is the very first test subject from the series of experiments, who was also exposed to Eleven, but also that the one ( Jamie Campbell Bower ), who actually goes by the name of Henry Creel, only became the terrifying Vecna through Eleven’s help, when she banished him to the Upside Down.
FILMSTARTS video editor and «Stranger Things» fan Sebastian took a close look at the end of the first part of season 4 to unravel the unfolding events and from there to speculate how it could continue in part 2.. .
questions upon questions
Because although the intermediate final provided some answers, there is still a lot to be clarified. Did Eleven herself create the Upside Down in the first place with her banishment from Henry, or at least initiate the fact that the world (which still seems very chaotic here) is an image of our dimension and is closely connected to it? What exactly is Vecna’s plan, and can Eleven surpass himself to stand up to him (again)? Or will he try to win her over (again) so that she could become a potential antagonist for the future of the series?
And how does Hopper’s ( David Harbour ) group and the Hawkins teen gang fit into all of this? According to the short teaser for Part 2, which can be seen on Netflix after Part 1, the ex-sheriff in Russia will now apparently follow the local upside-down experiments while the kids start their very own campaign in the upside down. Sebastian addresses all these and other questions in the video above.
Vecna still in season 5?
In any case, it will be exciting to see whether the story about Vecna will already be completed in the fourth season of «Stranger Things» or whether he will also play an important role in the already announced fifth and final season. The remaining episodes of Season 4 are also XXL in length (the season finale is said to last around two and a half hours). Still, it’s debatable whether the whole conflict can be resolved in just two episodes left, especially as it’s unclear if there is anyone above Vecna amidst the dark forces of the Upside Down, or if he — as is currently the case has the appearance — is already the ultimate evil of the dark parallel world.
We’ll be a little smarter when the second part of the fourth season of «Stranger Things» appears on Netflix on July 1, 2022 .
«Stranger Things» makers already have a spin-off idea – but not even Netflix knows it
