Season 3 shows this more vividly than ever, as one particularly bizarre sex/violence scene in particular should have been burned into the viewers’ memories forever. Season 3, which launched on June 3, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video , already has 17 percent more global viewers than Season 2 and a whopping 234 percent more than the debut season. The superhero satire doesn’t even seem to have reached its zenith, which is why the extension of the series hit was already foreseeable.

Showrunner Erik Kripke said : «On behalf of the cast and crew, I would like to thank Sony, Amazon and all the fans for celebrating this series and allowing us to make more of it. We’re thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys’ fight against Homelander and the Seven while commenting on the crazy world we live in.» He also says he’s delighted (spoiler alert!) that the aforementioned Shock scene well received: «It’s the first time in history that exploding genitals have led to even more success.»

When «The Boys» Season 4 will appear on Amazon Prime Video is not yet certain. There is also no information about the plot and the cast, except that important characters such as Billy Butcher ( Karl Urban ) and Homelander ( Antony Starr ) will obviously return.
