As the industry magazine Deadline reports, Ray Liotta has died. The actor was in the Dominican Republic for a film shoot. There he is said to have died in his sleep. Further details are still unknown.
Liotta began his film career in the 1980s and landed his first big hit with Dangerous Girlfriend . Jonathan Demme’s crime comedy earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He also thrilled in “ Field of Dreams ” alongside Kevin Costner .
But he had to wait until 1990 for his big breakthrough. He starred opposite Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese ‘s Mafia masterpiece Goodfellas . The true life of the gangster Henry Hill is told, because Liotta embodied in the film adaptation.
The actor with the incredibly characteristic face was often cast for Mafiosi, other villains, but also cops. He played tough guys again and again – in films like “ Escape from Absolom ”, “ Cop Land ” or “ Narc ”.
