The character Francesca Bridgerton has been a mystery in “ Bridgerton ” up to now: in season 1 she was hardly to be seen, in season 2 only in the first episodes before she suddenly disappeared without a trace. A little later showrunner Chris Van Dusen brought light into darkness:

It is obvious that due to this unfortunate constellation, the decision was made to cast the character Francesca again. No sooner said than done: From «Bridgerton» season 3, Francesca will be played by Hannah Dodd (known from, among others, «Anatomy of a Scandal» on Netflix). From now on, nothing should stand in the way of more regular appearances by Francesca and a greater presence of the sixth-eldest Bridgerton child. The fact that a decision was made to change the cast so early on is also important because each of the siblings sooner or later becomes the focus of a season.
In season 1 it was Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), in season 2 it was her brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey). If showrunner Chris Van Dusen and co. continue to follow Julia Quinn’s book template, it would be Francesca’s turn in season 6. So until then, Bridgerton fans will have a little time to get used to Francesca’s new look, if that’s even necessary.
It also remains to be seen if Bridgerton will even get a sixth season. Only seasons 3 and 4 have been ordered for the time being, but if the Regency series continues to be so successful on Netflix, further seasons should really only be a matter of time.
For now, however, “Bridgerton” Season 3 is on the program. Filming will begin in the summer, and we are currently expecting Netflix to start in early 2023.
