After dark, abysmal thrillers like » Street Kings » and » End Of Watch «, «Suicide Squad» director David Ayer stuck to his prime discipline in 2014 and was also able to win a promising, well-known cast for his next cop thriller — from action Superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger , Terrence Howard («Iron Man»), Joe Manganiello («Magic Mike») and Sam Worthington («Avatar»). But even that was not enough to make “ Sabotage ” a success.
With worldwide box office grossing of just $17.5 million (versus a $35 million budget), the film recouped just over half its cost (not counting marketing expenses). The reason for this: «Sabotage» failed to convince either the critics or the audience, badass cast or not. One of the reasons for the failure of the uncompromising mainstream hit might have been that there is hardly anything left of the original idea behind “Sabotage” in the final film.
