As the industry magazine Hollywood Reporter reports first and exclusively, Uwe Boll is making his US comeback with » Ness «. Because seven years after the release of » Rampage: President Down » he wants to start filming in 2023. The budget for the project is said to be $25 million. «Ness» by Uwe Boll: A serial killer thriller based on real history
» Ness » takes place a few years after the title character managed to arrest the legendary mafia boss Al Capone. Now Eliot Ness is chasing a serial killer who is up to mischief in Cleveland and has been dubbed «Mad Butcher Of Kingsbury Run» or «Cleveland Torso Murderer» by the press.
The plot is based on a real-life series of murders that took place in Cleveland between 1935 and 1938. The Cleveland Torso Killer got his name because he severed his victims’ heads and limbs. He was never caught.

Eliot Ness at the time held the position of director of public safety in Cleveland, overseeing various city agencies such as the police and fire departments. Although he wasn’t actually part of the investigative unit itself, he gradually became more involved in the investigation, which probably also spurred on the killer.

He placed the remains of his victims #11 and #12 so that they could be seen from Ness’ office window. He responded with a raid on the homeless shelters in Kingsbury Run, accompanied by much police violence. It was in this environment that the perpetrator was suspected. All of these quarters were even burned down by order of Ness.

The unsolved series of murders is still a big topic for true crime fans. There are podcasts and even a major comic series that scrutinize the deeds. It remains to be seen how Uwe Boll will take on the subject. The German director is highly controversial and has even been described as the «worst director of all time». A few years ago he actually ended his career as a filmmaker. He recently made his comeback with » Hanau » about the racist act of terrorism in the Hessian city — which was again highly controversial.
