» The Boys » and digs at » Justice League «: That has a certain tradition. Not only are many members of the Seven very clearly modeled after the most famous characters of the Justice League (Homelander = Superman, Queen Maeve = Wonder Woman and so on), in the fifth episode of «The Boys» Season 2 showrunner Eric Kripke and Co. also funny about «Justice League» from 2017.
The theatrical version of Justice League was parodied there as part of a scene from the making of the movie-in-the-series Dawn Of The Seven — and in the Season 3 opening scene we now see that movie premiere. However, some changes appear to have been made.

The allusion to the «Justice League» drama may have been noticed by many (at least if you watch the series in English), but the second dig in the first episode «The Boys» is much more hidden:
After the premiere, director Adam Bourke and Vought exec Ashley ( Colby Minifie ) have sex in the toilet, during which she tells him, » You director micro-penis. Tony Gilroy had to do all your shit again!” That’s a dig at Rogue One: A Star Wars Story .
Because although «Rogue One» was officially directed by Gareth Edwards , another man also had a major influence on the success of the film: Tony Gilroy , mentioned in «The Boys» .
Because Disney and Lucasfilm executives weren’t happy with Rogue One and Edwards’ work, Gilroy was hired to revise the script and direct reshoots. In all, Gilroy worked on Rogue One for five weeks, arguably changing the film’s widely acclaimed finale in the process.
