Jason Voorhees was still the talk of the town in the 80s and 90s because he not only emulated his role model Michael Myers, but also playfully outperformed him, especially when it came to violent peaks (which meant that the » Friday the 13th » films in Germany ended up on the index in rows), obscure legal situations behind the scenes determined the slasher series and its survival at some point. But while it’s still unclear if, when and how the Crystal Lake saga will continue, local fans still have reason to be happy.
Because the franchise is now considered fully rehabilitated. The indexing of all «Friday the 13th» films was lifted, and so the uncut versions finally got the green light from the FSK. After the orgies of the legendary ice hockey mask killer had been a red rag for the approval authorities for decades, the cult slashers in Germany can finally be advertised and sold in full. And that was already celebrated last autumn with a strictly limited uncut collection on Blu-ray. However, as expected, it was sold out within a very short time, from today, Friday, May 13th, the collection will finally be available in stores again — not as a limited edition, but as a much cheaper standard edition:
» «Friday the 13th» collection at Amazon*
» » Friday the 13th» collection at MediaMarkt*
» «Friday the 13th.» Steelbook Collection at Amazon*
The films have been available uncut in German on Blu-ray for some time, but horror fans have found them to be much more expensive. If you are looking for the individual media books of the films today, you have to pay more for one of them than for the new complete box
Paramount HomeEntertainment The «Friday the 13th» Collection in Steelbook
As with the Steelbook Collection, the new edition also saves you a lot of shelf space compared to over ten (!) media books – which all chapters from “Friday the 13th” to “ Friday the 13th VIII — Death Trap Manhattan ” can be found in of a standard Blu-ray case.
›› «Jason Goes To Hell»/»Jason X» at Amazon *
Incidentally, the fact that films 9 and 10 of the series are missing with the recently released double pack “ Jason Goes To Hell ” and “ Jason X ” is due to the fact that the rights are held by another distributor, namely Warner. If you want all ten films of the original saga (not counting the crossover “ Freddy Vs. Jason ” and the 2009 remake ) in one set, you have to resort to the US import from Scream Factory, which combines all the Crystal Lake massacres – for which you also need a code-free Blu-ray player.
We therefore clearly recommend that you grab the 8-pack (as well as the double with “Friday 9” and “Friday 10”). This is uncomplicated, cheap and unabridged.
