Chip and Dale is not a direct sequel to the events of the series of the same name. Instead, we’re dealing with a meta-sequel in a mix of animation and live-action, in which the animated series itself existed. So we learn that the paths of the once-close friends Chip (voice in the original: Comedian John Mulaney ) and Chap (Brooklyn Nine-Nine chaos cop Andy Samberg ) separated and developed very differently after the end of their series together to have.
While Chip now ekes out a stuffy suburban existence as a salesman, Chap is still very attached to the good old days. He earns his money by appearing at fan conventions – and thanks to a CGI operation, he now has a contemporary look. But when one day a former colleague of the two rodents disappears without a trace, they pull themselves together again after many years to get to the bottom of the matter together…
