While the international trade press hardly gave a good hair to “ Queen of the Damned ”, the sexy vampire horror was still on everyone’s lips in the early 2000s. The reason for this, however, was not a good one: Before the theatrical release in 2002, leading actress Aaliyah died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001. Before that, the artist had great success as an R’n’B singer and collected 2000 in the martial arts actioner «Romeo Must Die» alongside Jet Li already has some acting experience.
It is also interesting that «Queen of the Damned» is connected to one of the best vampire films of all time — namely » Interview with the Vampire » with Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst. The film, like «Interview with the Vampire», is based on novels by Anne Rice (in this case «The Queen of the Damned» and «Prince of Darkness») and stars us as a young Lestat de Lioncourt, previously played by Tom Cruise was embodied. » Queen of the Damned » is now included in the Amazon Prime Video subscription .

The attractive vampire Lestat de Lioncourt ( Stuart Townsend ) becomes a megastar overnight as the singer of a gothic metal band. In his melancholy lyrics he reveals great secrets about the life and wisdom of the vampire guild. It doesn’t take long for him to antagonize the other undead — and they immediately start hunting him.
The case is complicated for the graceful vampire queen Akasha (Aaliyah). She fights against the musical bloodsucker, but at the same time feels immensely attracted to him. She also has competition from the mortal Jesse Reeves ( Marguerite Moreau ), who also has a crush on Lestat. The vampire not only has to protect himself from his fellows, but also steps between the fronts of two women who both want him for themselves…
