It is currently one of the hottest projects at Netflix : Zack Snyder once pitched the story of » Rebel Moon » as a «Star Wars» film, now it will become an independent ci-fi actioner (and probably an entire franchise) for the streaming giant . And this one is Snyder’s no slouch: the concept art released so far promises an epic and gritty space adventure, and the latest short video released by the director himself gives us a first glimpse of a new one that’s pretty cool and gritty throwing looking alien figure…
Snyder tweeted the video of the horned figure standing amidst the swirling fog, describing it as footage from a makeup test. It is assumed that we see one of the villains of the film — at least the alien lady looks extremely sinister.
But Snyder isn’t just stingy when it comes to looks, Snyder also doesn’t skimp on the cast — and has just added a great Hollywood nobility to the already respectable cast of «Rebel Moon»: The two-time Oscar winner Sir Anthony Hopkins («The Silence of the Lämmer”, “The Father”) is a fresh addition to the cast , according to Deadline .

It is also already known which role Hopkins will take on — namely a speaking role: The Hollywood legend will lend her voice to the robot Jimmy. According to Deadline , Jimmy is «an incredibly sentient JC1435 mechanized combat robot that once defended the now-slain king.»
Anthony Hopkins expands the already well-known cast around, among others, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ed Skrein, Cary Elwes, Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman and many more.

As previously mentioned, Rebel Moon got its start as an idea for a solo Star Wars movie apart from the main Skywalker series — and the epic sci-fi story now being made for Netflix could actually just as easily be imagined as a Introduce the plot of a Star Wars adventure: A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of the tyrannical regent Balisarius. Desperate residents send a young woman ( Sofia Boutella ) with a mysterious past to rally warriors on neighboring planets to confront the threat together.
It is not yet known when » Rebel Moon » will be released on Netflix. However, since filming has only just begun, it is not expected to start before the beginning of 2023.
