Moon Knight was originally announced as a mini-series. But at the latest the big revelation in the end credits scene of episode 6 has fueled speculation about a possible season 2. So far, no sequel to «Moon Knight» has been officially announced and an appearance of the Marvel hero in other MCU projects has not yet been confirmed…
… but the chances that Oscar Isaac will return as the Moon Knight are still not bad. At least the most important people involved in the Disney+ series want to do it – under the right conditions.

Oscar Isaac on a possible Moon Knight return
We caught up with Oscar Isaac right before the launch of Moon Knight and asked him if he would play his Marvel character for multiple seasons or other MCU projects. First of all, he didn’t want to get too far out of the window and replied: «It all depends on how the series is received.» But we pressed again and this is how he expressed his personal condition for a return:
«It depends on whether there’s a good story. […] I know that I love playing this character. Exploring them again would be exciting, but the situation has to be right, the story has to be right.”
Spoiler alert: Since we saw the end credits scene of «Moon Knight», this quote appears again in a different light. With the revelation of Jake Lockley as another personality, the story of Marc Spector and Steven Grant just doesn’t seem to have been told yet. On the contrary: just when things got really exciting again, season 1 ended. So it shouldn’t be a problem at all to find a good story for a sequel in which Marc and Steven, for example, have to assert themselves against their new, more brutal personalities.

Even Oscar Isaac himself should have even more desire for a season 2 after Jake Lockley’s revelation. After all, he already told us in the interview how much fun he had creating the character Steven Grant and that he was very happy to have gotten the character of the Moon Knight as a Marvel role, that he was fascinated by the inner workings of this hero . Exploring another facet of this character and demonstrating even more acting versatility should be very appealing to the MCU star.

The ‘Moon Knight’ director wants a movie instead of season 2
Mohamed Diab , the most important director of «Moon Knight», who staged episodes 1, 3, 5 and parts of the finale, also wants to continue the story about the white moon man and his numerous personalities . Shortly after the last episode aired, he told Deadline : «We don’t know if there will be another season. Marvel doesn’t go the conventional route. Even if they like the character and want to expand the world, that could be in a season 2, their own solo movie, or as part of another superhero adventure.”
Diab adds, «We’ve never discussed whether there will be a season 2, but eventually there will be an expansion. However, I don’t know what this will look like.»
While the director of Moon Knight isn’t quite sure what’s next for the character, he seems confident she’ll return in some form. He even revealed to The Wrap what form he would like it in:
«If you ask me, I’d love to do a ‘Moon Knight’ movie and maybe add someone else from the Marvel universe. […] I’d like to see more of Jake, see life from his perspective. The best part about starting a new story with Marc and Steven is that the dynamic between the two will change because they now live together in one body. […] I want to see Layla who doesn’t want to be an avatar anymore […] How will she deal with being a superhero? I love all of that, so I’m hoping to put it all in a blender and play with it.»
