» Zwischen uns » is about single mother Eva ( Liv Lisa Fries ) and her 13-year-old autistic son. Every day, the duo has to deal with panic attacks and uncontrolled, violent tantrums from the otherwise shy Felix ( Jona Eisenblätter ), who – whenever it gets too much for him – simply runs away. Eva tries everything to offer her child a stable home and as harmonious an everyday life as possible. But hope for an improvement in Felix’ condition and the insight of complete powerlessness regarding his situation alternate with her constantly.
A youth welfare psychologist ( Corinna Harfouch ) provides the boy with a supervisor ( Lena Urzendowsky ) who is supposed to enable him to attend a regular school. And their neighbor, the somewhat idiosyncratic but kind-hearted fishmonger Pelle ( Thure Lindhardt ), also offers to help. Just when it looks like the two are on the right track, Felix severely injures his mother during one of his outbursts…

From editor to director and author
“Between Us” is Max Fey ’s feature film directorial debut , for which he also wrote the screenplay in collaboration with “Crazy” and “Lichter” author Michael Gutmann . So far, Fey, who was born in Cologne, has primarily been active as a chief editor and worked as such on, among other things, “We Were Kings”, “Storno: Todsicher Versicherung” or the strong “The End of Truth”.
For the main roles in his work, Fey cast Liv Lisa Fries, who is known primarily from the hit series “Babylon Berlin”, but also from cinema films such as “Confessions of the Imposter Felix Krull” and “Hinterland”, as well as the young mime Jona Eisenblätter from “Max und die Wild 7″.
The supporting parts were provided by «Der Untergang» and «Lara» star Corinna Harfouch, the Dane Thure Lindhardt («Die Brücke — Transit in den Tod») and Lena Urzendowsky from the Netflix drug comedy «How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast) “ clothed.
