But there should also be some skepticism: Can the quality of the parent series be achieved again here? Or are we just expecting a tired infusion that HBO delivers to us to milk the «GoT» cow a little more?

Sebastian finds many elements that distinguish «House Of The Dragon» from «Game Of Thrones» promising: On the one hand, there is the narration on different time levels. A lot of flashbacks are used in House Of The Dragon, which can already be seen in the trailers, where we see, for example, Rhaenyra Targaryen as a grown woman ( Emma D’Arcy ) and as a girl ( Milly Alcock ). Sebastian finds this narrative structure interesting — and this gives the series the opportunity to cover a larger time frame than «Game Of Thrones».
Less fantasy, clearer ending
In addition, Sebastian sees the fact that the fantasy aspect is scaled back as a possible strength of «House Of The Dragon». Yes, of course there are dragons in the Targaryens, and it’s clearly a fantasy world.
But while «Game Of Thrones» got a little confused with storylines about the Night King, the children of the forest, the legend of Azor Ahai and the like and didn’t really solve them satisfactorily, this problem should even be solved with «House Of The Dragon». don’t ask first — so far it seems as if the focus this time will be clearly on politics, drama and intrigue, which means that the series is less likely to get bogged down in subplots about legends, mythical creatures and Co.
Another important point: There is a much clearer end point than with «Game Of Thrones», which suffered from the fact that George RR Martin had not yet finished his template and those responsible for the series had to come up with something of their own.
