Six years earlier, his last feature film had its world premiere in competition in Cannes. Based on the British novel As Long As You Lie, this erotic thriller is set in 1930s Japanese-occupied Korea:
The young pickpocket Sookee ( Kim Tae-Ri ) and the marriage swindler The Count ( Ha Jung-Woo ) want to rob the rich Japanese heiress Hideko ( Kim Min-Hee ) of her fortune. To do this, she moves as a servant to the remote property where Hideko lives with her uncle ( Cho Jin-Woong ), who collects rare books. At first everything goes according to plan. But then Sookee suddenly develops erotic feelings for her mistress…
