In the meantime, one could have justified concerns as to whether the legendary “Indiana Joens” series would really get another sequel. Appropriate plans were quickly made after the success of » Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull » in 2008, but » Indiana Jones 5 » didn’t really want to get off the ground for a long time. That didn’t change even after Disney took over the Indy studio Lucasfilm, where a number of delayed release dates were announced.
After a change in the director’s chair in early 2020 — for the first time an Indy adventure was not staged by Steven Spielberg but by «Logan» maker James Mangold — things finally went ahead. Although further postponements were inevitable due to the corona pandemic, Harrison Ford’s shoulder injury and a general appointment carousel at Disney, after filming was completed in February 2022, the currently scheduled theatrical release on June 29, 2023 will probably not take place more jolted.
After a few set photos, this is now also shown by an image that gives us a small foretaste of an actual scene from the film for the first time. What is certain is that Harrison Ford will have an extremely illustrious cast at his side in his fifth Indy appearance — from «Fantastic Beasts 3» villain Mads Mikkelsen and Phoebe Waller-Bridge («Fleabag») to Boyd Holbrook (» Logan») and Thomas Kretschmann («King Kong») to Toby Jones («Captain American») and Antonio Banderas («Pain and Glory»).
