Two fantasy series that fans have been waiting for for a long time will soon be in competition with each other: On August 22, 2022 » Game Of Thrones: House Of The Dragon » starts in the USA on HBO and in Germany on Sky, and on August 22, 2022 On September 2nd, Amazon Prime’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere. A large part of the episodes of both series will therefore run simultaneously — and vie for the attention of viewers and the media.
In its latest issue, Empire Magazine has put the focus entirely on «Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power», as the Tolkien adaptation is originally called. The magazine is all about the long-awaited fantasy highlight, and as usual, Empire adorns the issue with various covers — which have also found their way to Twitter:
In one of the new images we can take another look at the elf Galadriel ( Morfydd Clark ) , who still appears as a warrior in the prequel series to » The Lord of the Rings «, while we then see her from the later movies in known primarily as the ethereal ruler portrayed by Cate Blanchett. On the cover, she is battle scarred, with torn chain mail and soiled armor.

The second cover features dwarven prince Durin IV ( Owain Arthur ) and princess Disa ( Sophia Nomvete ) ruling over Khazad-dûm — the place we remembered from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings films know the abandoned mining town where Gandalf confronts the Balrog. And the third new image for The Rings of Power features Hobbit ancestors Poppy Proudfellow ( Megan Richards ), Elanor «Nori» Brandyfoot ( Markella Kavenagh ), and Sadoc Burrows ( Lenny Henry ).
But Empire also has a very special cover for its subscribers — and that features John Howe’s concept art of a snow troll, which is likely to be the creature we also saw in the trailer for the Amazon series. You can watch it again here:
