The return of familiar faces was already made big in Scream 5 : Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox) and Dewey Riley (David Arquette) do it again , directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett recorded with Ghostface. Even Marley Shelton (Judy Hicks from «Scream 4») and Skeet Ulrich (Billy Loomis from the very first Scream) stopped by for a brief appearance.

Kirby from «Scream 4» is back in the game
As has now been announced (eg by the trade journal Deadline ), Hayden Panettiere will once again slip into the role of Kirby Reed for «Scream 6″. Anyone who thinks that this seems pretty absurd, because Kirby was stabbed to death by the Ghostface killer in » Scream 4 «, is a little wrong: you don’t see Kirby dying, only how she crawls across the floor, badly injured — and at this very moment the film cuts away. Anyone who paid close attention to «Scream 5» will also have noticed, thanks to a small Easter egg, that Kirby did not die. Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid) is watching a YouTube review of «Stab 8» (the fictional «Scream» series within the real «Scream» series) on his tablet. The video he’s recommended next is an interview with Kirby Reed that Bloody Disgusting did — and has racked up 4.6 million views.
Here’s what we already know about Scream 6
It remains to be seen how much screen time Hayden Panettiere will have. In any case, the story is intended to tie straight into «Scream 5» and accompanies Sam, Mindy, Chad and Tara as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a new chapter. Apparently, they also meet Kirby, who, like the teenage clique, is also a survivor of the Woodsboro murders. The screenplay is currently being re-written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
