It’s getting really serious now: After the four (!) planned «Avatar» sequels were repeatedly delayed for years, » Avatar 2 » is actually starting in 2022 — a full 13 years after Part 1, the most successful film of all time. This is now confirmed by the first teaser trailer. For the time being, it was only shown exclusively to those present at the CinemaCon cinema trade fair (in 3D). However, the rest of the world won’t have to wait long for the eagerly awaited preview either:
The first trailer for «Avatar 2″ will be shown before showings of the Marvel blockbuster » Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness «, which will start in German cinemas on May 4th, 2022. This should not only apply to the USA, but also to international markets such as Germany. The release in combination with «Doctor Strange 2» was rumored before, but the information about the online evaluation is new: Only in the week after the «Doctor Strange» start, i.e. in the period from May 9th to 15th, will it be the preview was then also published on the Internet.

Based on the descriptions of press representatives on site, we already know what to expect in the teaser trailer for «Avatar 2». As part of the unveiling of the first footage, the official title of the sequel, which has been making the rounds for a while, was also confirmed: «Avatar 2» will actually be called «Avatar: The Way Of Water».
Of course, this also fits the plot of the film, which is primarily supposed to take place in and around the seas of the planet Pandora. The said preview then provided a corresponding foretaste. According to Deadline , stunning underwater and above-water images include the Na’vi riding new creatures and communicating with a whale. However, a central conflict is probably already indicated: The Na’vi tribes are apparently divided among themselves , as violent conflicts between them show, in which both firearms and bows and arrows are used.
Meanwhile, a wiser and older Sully ( Sam Worthington ) comments on the second central theme of the Avatar sequels: «Wherever we go, one thing is certain: this family is our stronghold. As the producer Jon Landau , who was present at CinemaCon, confirmed once again, everything in the sequels will be about Sully and his great love Neytiri ( Zoe Saldana ) as well as their children. The individual parts should each tell a quite independent story, but together they also make a big whole.

The added director James Cameron also promised (once again) that the technical limits with «Avatar 2» and the other films in the sci-fi series will be pushed even further than with Part 1 and, in this context, above all mentioned a high one Frame rate, higher resolution 3D and more realistic visual effects. «Each shot is designed for the big screen, the highest resolution, and the most immersive 3D,» Cameron concluded.
