Sometimes, however, Black Adam is also drawn as an anti-hero and this interpretation also seems to be followed with «Black Adam» — no wonder, after all, Johnson is very careful about his image and will certainly not play a flawless villain in a big blockbuster.
Black Adam vs JSA
Rumor has it that «Aladdin» star Marwan Kenzari also plays the nominal villain of «Black Adam», while Dwayne Johnson’s character is somewhere in the middle — and there are also four «real» heroes: The Justice Society Of America (JSA) is in the comics mostly a kind of predecessor organization of the more well-known Justice League Of America (JLA). It is not yet known what the relationship between JSA and JLA in the so-called DCEU looks like.
But it is clear which four characters make up the JSA: Hawkman ( Aldis Hodge ) can fly and is the reincarnation of an Egyptian prince; Atom Smasher ( Noah Centineo ) can change size and strength; Cyclone ( Quintessa Swindell ) controls weather and sound; Doctor Fate ( Pierce Brosnan ) is a powerful magician à la Doctor Strange.
The plot of «Black Adam»
It is also known that «Black Adam» plays on two time levels: The origin story of the titular hero is set 5,000 years ago in a fictional country called Kahndaq, where Teth-Adam (the real name of Dwayne Johnson’s character) ekes out an existence as a slave .
However, he is then granted powerful superpowers and leads a revolution. However, because he abuses his powers, he is imprisoned for 5,000 years before he awakens in the present — and then apparently has to do with the JSA.
«Black Adam» will be released in German cinemas on October 20, 2022.
