Late sequels to both iconic films from the past few decades have been all the rage in Hollywood for the past few years, and Bill & Ted Save the Universe falls into this category. After all, this is a sequel to the cult comedies » Bill & Ted’s Crazy Journey Through Time » (1989) and » Bill & Ted’s Crazy Journey Into the Future » (1991).
However, the new “Bill & Ted” was denied great success, which is due on the one hand to the niche status of the series, but on the other hand it was also due to the corona pandemic. Bill ( Alex Winter ) and Ted ( Keanu Reeves ) are still married to British princesses Joanna ( Jayma Mays ) and Elizabeth ( Erinn Hayes ), who once brought them from the 15th century to the present, and have married Thea ( Samara Weaving ) and Billie ( Brigette Lundy-Paine ) each have a daughter who takes after her father.
But otherwise things aren’t going particularly well for the planned musicians: their success as rock stars has evaporated and they still haven’t managed to write the song that is supposed to save the entire universe. With only a few hours left, Bill and Ted have an idea: travel back in time to steal the finished song from their future selves…
