At Cinema-Con, Disney subsidiary 20th Century Studios announced that David O. Russell’s latest film is titled Amsterdam and is an «original, romantic crime epic about three close friends who focus on themselves one of the most shocking secret ventures in American history».
There is also a first picture of the three friends in the center, which also hints at what kind of star cast Russell is working with here again. The picture shows Christian Bale , Margot Robbie and «Tenet» star John David Washington .

As you know from Russell, you definitely have to take a second look to recognize all the stars straight away. Margot Robbie isn’t blonde here again, Washington suddenly doesn’t have a beard and is significantly less muscular than in » Tenet » and that’s especially true for Christian Bale. The already physically transforming actor for almost every role (see our article picture from «American Hustle» — also a collaboration with Russell) is again very, very thin here.
The first fan voices on the net repeatedly express an association: Bale is very reminiscent of Matthew McConaughey’s Rust Cohle from the series «True Detective» .
In addition to the trio, we also see Robert De Niro , Alessandro Nivola , Anya Taylor-Joy , Rami Malek , Taylor Swift , Mike Myers , Chris Rock , Michael Shannon , Timothy Olyphant , Zoe Saldana , Andrea Riseborough and Matthias Schoenaerts in «Amsterdam» .
