In our FILMSTARTS review of » The Lost City » we attest Brad Pitt «stealing the show». It’s quite unusual for the superstar to play a rather small role in a film that focuses on Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe. But Sandra Bullock , who as a producer is also a driving force behind the adventure comedy, got her colleague on board with a trick — and resorted to the most powerful people in Hollywood.
Hopefully you’re not thinking of directors anyway, but maybe studio bosses? No, far from it, but first things first..
In an interview on Australian TV show The Project , Bullock revealed the story behind Pitt’s signing. One day she was called by Janine Thompson, who has been accompanying Bullock for decades and has been her hairstylist on films such as “ The Jury ” or “ 28 Days ”. Brad Pitt, who last worked with Thompson on Quentin Tarantino’s » Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood «, asked the stylist to call him because he had a request for Bullock — and she thought: I’ll shoot that one turn the spit.
Hair stylists hold all the power in Hollywood
So she called Thompson again and said that since she finally said yes to Pitt’s favor, could she please chat up the Fight Club star and ask him to be in The Lost City. And he agreed.
That Thompson managed to get Bullock to do Pitt a favor and then convince Pitt to star in Bullock’s film shows one thing for the actress: «Hairstylists hold all the power in Hollywood!»
» The Lost City — The Secret of the Lost City » is currently running in German cinemas.
