platform production
From May 17th to 28th, 2022, the red carpet was rolled out again on the famous staircase in front of the Festival Palais in Cannes. At the 75th edition of the film festival, Hollywood blockbusters such as » Top Gun: Maverick » with Tom Cruise and Baz Luhrmann’s » Elvis » were shown out of competition this time. And the 21 films in the official competition were also impressive: Among other things, there were Body horror in David Cronenberg’s Crimes Of The Future , scathing satire in Ruben Ostlund’s Triangle Of Sadness , serial killer thrill in Ali Abbasi’s Holy Spider and coming-of-age drama in Armageddon Time’ by James Gray. French actor Vincent Lindon chaired the jury this year .
The prizes were then awarded in the glamorous closing ceremony on Saturday evening. The Palme d’Or 2022 went to the satire » Triangle Of Sadness » by Ruben Östlund, who had already won the Palme d’Or in 2017 with » The Square «. In «Triangle Of Sadness» starring Woody Harrelson and Iris Berben, a male model and his influencer girlfriend embark on a luxury cruise that goes completely out of control. The fact that there is a veritable puke orgy on the ship is just the beginning…

In it, a boy from the city and a boy from the mountains form a friendship that they will hold on to for the rest of their lives, even if they take very different paths.
The Grand Jury Prize (not to be confused with Jury Prize) also went to two films. On the one hand, the drama “ Close ” by Lukas Dhont received an award, in which the friendship of two boys is put to the test, culminating in a catastrophe. On the other hand, the director Claire Denis was able to pick up the grand prize from the jury for her romantic thriller » Stars At Noon » with Margaret Qualley and Joe Alwyn
