» Liftoff — Take You To Mars » takes place in the not too distant future. Here we meet the somewhat neurotic Sophie ( Lana Condor ). She is the girlfriend of Calvin ( Mason Gooding ), who is among the chosen young scientists to prepare Mars for human colonization.
Actually, his assignment on the red planet should only be of limited duration, but now things are different and Calvin will have to stay there for years. However, Sophie cannot reconcile the idea of a long-distance relationship, which is why she applies for a Mars mission herself and is actually accepted.
Also there is Sophie’s new acquaintance, Walt ( Cole Sprouse ), a college campus barista who takes life a little too easy. Without further ado, he sneaks aboard the space shuttle towards Mars in order to finally be able to live his dream of a space adventure…
The film celebrated its premiere in the USA at the end of March 2022. However, not on the big screen, but exclusively in the program of the streaming service HBO Max. It is not yet available for subscription in this country. Instead, «Liftoff — Mit dir zum Mars» will be in cinemas throughout Germany on May 5, 2022.
Two teen stars in space
Cole Sprouse and Lana Condor star in director Christopher Winterbauer ‘s («Wyrm») futuristic romantic comedy. Vietnam-born American Condor rose to worldwide fame thanks to her starring role in the hugely popular Netflix teen dramedy To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and its two sequels. Condor has also gained science fiction experience with parts in blockbusters such as «X-Men: Apocalypse» and «Alita: Battle Angel».
Cole Sprouse’s most popular appearance to date is as Jughead Jones in the TV series Riverdale.
