A Nazi serial killer in «Moon Knight»?! This is how episode 5 of the Marvel series differs from the disturbing comic template — series news

Our YouTuber and Marvel fan Sebastian Gerdshikow is over the moon. In his opinion, episode 5 of “ Moon Knight ” is the best of the entire series so far. In his video above, he is not only full of praise, but , like every week, he also dedicates himself to the most important Easter eggs, MCU connections and story twists of the past episode. He also tells you where the QR code is hidden that takes you to the very first Moon Knight volume from 1980.

The comparison that Sebastian makes to the comics is particularly exciting. Because the history of Marc Spector ( Oscar Isaac ) differs in the series version on Disney Plus , sometimes drastically from the drawn template.

The differences between Episode 5 and the Marvel Comics

The part about Marc’s mother blaming him for his brother’s death doesn’t exist in the comics. After all, Randall, as he is called in the comics, didn’t even die. Instead, like Marc, he joins the military, slowly going insane, even killing Marc’s girlfriend (!) and later turning into Shadow Knight, a kind of evil variant of Moon Knight.

Also, in the comics, Marc’s father is a rabbi who had to flee from the Nazis in the past. But even in their new home in Chicago, the family (and Randall in particular) faced severe hostilities because of their faith. Particularly disturbing: A close friend of the Spectors, posing as a rabbi, turns out to be a Nazi and serial killer hunting Jews.

A big surprise: This superstar becomes the new Marvel anti-hero after Venom and Morbius

When Marc confronts him, a fight ensues and the protagonist, who was still very young at the time, develops his dissociative identity disorder as a result of the resulting trauma. Marc is then committed to Putnam Psychiatric Hospital, where he remains until the death of his father. It is only after that, as a young man, that he begins his career in the military and the story unfolds somewhat as portrayed in the Disney+ series.

Sebastian goes into all this in great detail in his video above. He also clarifies the question of what the strange intermediate world called Duat in which Marc and Steven end up and whether Steven really died at the end of the episode. There is also a preview of episode 6, where a completely different person could probably become Moon Knight.
