Just before he graduates from high school, young Michael ( Ryder McLaughlin ) dreams of becoming a professional skater — which his father ( Vince Vaughn ) isn’t exactly thrilled about. He would rather have a bright college and career path for his son. It’s not just his father who quarrels with Michael about his plans for the future. Tensions also mount between him and his skater friends as Michael turns his back on them to pursue his passion alongside the pros.
Ultimately, the teenager must decide which relationships are really important to him, and whether he should conform to his father’s ideas or follow his own big dream…
Greetings from «Mid90s».
With “ Mid90s ” the actor and then debut director Jonah Hill brought us a coming-of-age gem with a love of detail a few years ago, which, despite its subject matter, has not only enthralled skater fans for a long time (and also found itself on some of the best lists of the year in the FILMSTARTS editorial team found again). After the success of the tragic comedy, co-producer Mikey Alfred felt compelled to create his very own skater film, in which he also draws on his personal experiences from his youth.

The result is «North Hollywood», which also takes us to the skater parks of Los Angeles and already exudes vibes very similar to «Mid90s» in the trailer. Ryder McLaughlin, a young star who was also part of the ensemble of Jonah Hill’s cinema highlight, also plays the leading role. There was also celebrity support from music superstar Pharrell Williams , who co-produced the film.
After «North Hollywood» also ran at a number of festivals in Europe in 2021, it will now be released in Germany on June 9, 2022 on DVD and Blu-ray. Of course, it is also included there in the original sound version, which you can also get an impression of with the English version of the trailer above:
